ENGLISH
I've always had in my mind the idea of keeping a journal. I do know that this takes a lot of dedication, since you have to write something down at least every day or so, even though you're not always in the mood.
I used to give up after the second day every time I started one, maybe due to lack of interesting things to tell or lack of time or simply being lazy(1)
(1) A lot of people smoke in Turkey due to it being legal everywhere.
I guess with this kind of thing you can't go halfway, once you start, you've got to stick with it to the end. It can be said that this hasn't been my case up to now.
Ok, let's get to the point. In my opinión, to master a language it's essential to go to a country where that language is spoken. (Most) obviously, however, this is not the most affordable way.
There're two kinds of spoken English I'm familiar with: The one that is spoken between foreigners and the one spoken between Americans and foreigners, especially Europeans.
Anyway, I think what everybody should consider is rating speaking over more traditional forms of study, also the latter are also important. What I mean by this is that it doesn't matter how much grammar one comes to know if one doesn't know how to use it to communicate with other people.
What I had in mind before coming to this country was the kind of accent that I'd have to deal with and whether or not I could handle it.
It's common knowledge that an american accent is quite different from the british ones which Europeans are more used to hearing.
